8 A fast-blow protection at 125 V — what the ratings mean
The 0451008.MR: Rated 8 A continuous at 125 V AC and DC, this fuse clears overcurrents in a single-element fast-blow design — the response time is short enough to protect sensitive semiconductor circuits from short-circuit energy before the silicon fails. Breaking capacity is 50 A at the rated voltage — the fuse safely interrupts a fault current up to that level without rupturing the 2-SMD square end block package. For circuits with prospective short-circuit currents above 50 A, an upstream current-limiting device is needed. Melting I²t is 20.23 A²s — this value governs coordination with downstream components: a semiconductor rated for a lower I²t withstand may need a faster or smaller fuse ahead of it. DC cold resistance is 0.0077 Ohms, so the voltage drop at 8 A is about 62 mV — negligible in most low-voltage power paths but worth checking if the load rail has tight regulation.
Approvals and temperature envelope
The 0451008.MR carries CSA, PSE, and UL approvals — accepted in North American, Japanese, and many international markets without additional agency testing. The surface-mount package (6.10 mm x 2.69 mm x 2.69 mm) reflows on standard SMD profiles.
