Single-axis Hall sensor for automotive position and current sensing
The TLE4999I3XALA1 is a single-axis Hall-effect sensor from Infineon's automotive-grade family, qualified to AEC-Q100 for operation from -40°C to 150°C junction temperature. This temperature range covers under-hood, transmission, and brake-system environments where the sensor sees both engine heat and the thermal rise from the sensed current. Its ±25 mT sensing range, combined with 13-bit resolution, yields a theoretical step size of approximately 6.1 µT per LSB. For a current-sense application using a 100 µT/A shunt field, this gives roughly 16 mA per LSB resolution at the ADC. The sensor is programmable and temperature-compensated, which means the output sensitivity and offset can be trimmed during module calibration to account for magnet tolerances and mechanical air-gap variation. This reduces the system-level calibration effort compared to fixed-gain Hall sensors.
Bandwidth selection and output drive
The TLE4999I3XALA1 offers a wide selection of filter bandwidths: 80 Hz, 160 Hz, 200 Hz, 240 Hz, 320 Hz, 400 Hz, 470 Hz, 500 Hz, 650 Hz, 870 Hz, 980 Hz, 1.07 kHz, 1.27 kHz, and 1.38 kHz. The lower bandwidths reject high-frequency ripple from PWM-driven solenoids and motor currents; the higher settings preserve fast transient response for crash detection or pedal-position sensing. The output can source or sink up to 30 mA, sufficient to drive the ADC input of a typical automotive ECU directly without an external buffer. The supply current is 14 mA maximum, so the total load on the 5.5 V to 7 V supply rail is under 45 mA including the output.
Package and mounting for high-vibration environments
The sensor comes in a 3-pin SSIP module (PG-SSO-3-12) with through-hole mounting. The three leads provide robust mechanical retention against the vibration and shock profiles specified in AEC-Q100, common in engine-mount and transmission applications. The through-hole form factor also simplifies manual rework or replacement during prototype bring-up. Available packaging includes Tape & Box (TB) and Cut Tape (CT) options for different production volumes. The ROHS3 compliance ensures no restricted substances for global automotive supply chains.
Active production and sourcing posture
No pin-compatible second-source is listed on the official record, so the Infineon part number is the sole BOM line item.
