HEXFET N-channel, 55 V, 47 A — now obsolete
The Infineon IRLZ44NLPBF is an N-channel logic-level HEXFET MOSFET in a TO-262 through-hole package. The gate threshold is specified at 2 V maximum at 250 µA, making it compatible with 5 V logic-level gate signals.
For BOM lines that still require this exact device, supply runs through independent distribution and surplus inventory.
Thermal and switching characteristics
Maximum power dissipation is 3.8 W at ambient and 110 W at case temperature, so the thermal interface — heatsink, airflow, or PCB copper — determines the real continuous current. Gate charge is 48 nC at 5 V, which keeps switching losses manageable at moderate frequencies; a gate driver with 1 A to 2 A peak current is sufficient for most applications. Input capacitance is 1700 pF at 25 V drain-source, typical for a 47 A device in this voltage class.
Operating temperature range and package
The TO-262 package (I²Pak, long leads) is a through-hole format with a tab for heatsink attachment — common in power supplies, motor drives, and battery management circuits where board-level thermal management is straightforward.
