What the 55V / 49A rating means for your BOM
The IRFZ44NSTRRPBF: The 17.5 mOhm max on-resistance at 25 A and 10 V gate drive keeps conduction losses under 8.6 W at that current — the 94 W case-temperature power dissipation gives plenty of thermal headroom if you bolt the D2PAK tab to a copper plane or heatsink.
D2PAK surface-mount — board integration
The D2PAK (TO-263) package — three leads plus a large drain tab — is the surface-mount sibling of the through-hole TO-220. The 175°C max junction temperature means this part can run hot, but the board-level thermal resistance will limit the practical continuous current below the 49 A case rating unless you manage the tab's thermal connection.
