Gate charge, input capacitance, and switching speed
The IRF540ZLPBF: For a gate driver sourcing 1 A peak, the rise time to charge the gate to 10 V is roughly 63 ns — fast enough for switching frequencies in the tens of kilohertz typical of DC-DC converters and motor drives. The 1770 pF Ciss also loads the driver's output; a driver with 2 Ω pull-up will see a ~3.5 ns RC time constant at the gate.
This means the part is still available for existing production but is not intended for new board spins. For a BOM already qualified with this MOSFET, the NRND status does not force an immediate change, but the procurement team should plan a migration path — the official successor is not named in the record, so a parametric or pin-compatible replacement needs to be evaluated against the same Rds(on), Qg, and package footprint.
Package and thermal management
Housed in a TO-262-3 (I²Pak) through-hole package with long leads, the part mounts into a standard TO-262 footprint.
