600 V CoolMOS for flyback and PFC stages
The Infineon IPA60R520CPXKSA1 is an N-channel CoolMOS power MOSFET in a through-hole TO-220 Full Pack package.
Infineon lists the IPA60R520CPXKSA1 as obsolete. The IPA60R380CP (600 V, 380 mOhm) is a higher-current variant in the same CoolMOS CP family and shares the same TO-220 Full Pack footprint, but its Rds(on) is lower, so the thermal and drive conditions differ — verify the gate drive and switching losses against your design before substituting. Pin-compatible across the CP series in the same package.
What the 600 V rating and 520 mOhm mean for a flyback design
The 600 V drain-source rating provides adequate margin for universal-input (85–265 VAC) flyback converters, where the reflected voltage plus leakage spike typically stays under 500 V. Gate drive should be a full 10 V to achieve the rated Rds(on); at lower drive voltages the on-resistance rises significantly. The ±20 V gate-source maximum gives headroom for ringing on the gate node in hard-switched circuits.
