650 V CoolMOS N-channel in a full-pack TO-220
The full-pack moulding isolates the backside tab, so no insulating pad or washer is needed when bolting it to a heatsink — a real time-saver on the assembly line and one fewer thermal interface to budget.
Infineon has marked the IPA60R125CPXKSA1 as NRND. Existing BOMs should plan for a replacement before supply tightens.
That is moderate for a 650 V, 125 mOhm device — the driver does not need to be a monster, but the 70 nC still demands a gate-drive current in the ampere range if you are switching above 100 kHz.
Thermal and mounting
Maximum power dissipation is 35 W at case temperature. The TO-220 Full Pack (PG-TO220-FP) package has no exposed metal tab — the plastic encapsulant covers the back, so the thermal path goes through the plastic to the heatsink. That raises the thermal resistance compared to a standard TO-220, so derate the dissipation accordingly. The through-hole leads are a straightforward hand-solder or wave-solder fit for single-sided or double-sided boards.
