Dual MOSFET driver in a DIP-8 — active, but watch the RoHS flag
The TSC428CPA is a dual power MOSFET driver from TelCom Semiconductor, designed to drive the gate of two N-channel or P-channel MOSFETs from a logic-level input. It is a pin-compatible functional equivalent to the industry-standard TC428 family, making it a drop-in for existing BOM positions that use that footprint.
RoHS non-compliance — a design-in constraint
This driver is listed as RoHS non-compliant, meaning the lead-frame finish and solder terminals contain lead. For new designs requiring lead-free assembly per EU RoHS or similar directives, this part is not suitable. It remains a valid choice for legacy builds, military/aerospace contracts with leaded-solder exemptions, or repair stock where the original BOM specified tin-lead solder. This is fine for through-hole assembly and manual rework, but if your line expects reel-fed pick-and-place, you will need to hand-place or transfer to a carrier tape. Store the tubes in a dry, anti-static cabinet; the DIP body is not moisture-sensitive, but the leads can oxidise if left in a humid storeroom for years.
