80 ns propagation delay — what it means for the loop
With a maximum propagation delay of 80 ns, this comparator responds fast enough for most sensor-level thresholding and overvoltage/undervoltage detection. It is not meant for high-speed ADC front-ends or GHz-level clock recovery, but for control loops where a few hundred nanoseconds of latency is acceptable — think PWM cycle-by-cycle current limit, battery undervoltage lockout, or relay-coil monitoring.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in an 8-SOIC (0.154", 3.90 mm width) — the standard narrow-body footprint that matches many existing PCB layouts. Rated for 0°C to 70°C commercial temperature range, so it is suited for office equipment, benchtop instruments, and indoor industrial panels. Not rated for automotive under-hood or extended outdoor exposure.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The MAX942CSA+ carries an Active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant. No last-time-buy or EOL notice. It is sourced and quoted to order through independent distribution; availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time.
