High-side switch with 75 mOhm on-resistance
The MAX890LESA+T from Analog Devices is a single-channel, high-side power switch with a P-channel output, rated for a continuous load current of 1.2 A max. The 75 mOhm typical on-resistance means conduction losses stay under 110 mW at full load — the package can sink that without forced airflow in most board layouts.
The input-to-output ratio is 1:1, so the switch passes the full load voltage to the output when enabled. The On/Off interface is non-inverting — logic high turns the output on.
Adjustable current limit and thermal protection
Fault protection includes an adjustable current limit and over-temperature shutdown. The current limit is set with an external resistor, giving the designer control over the trip threshold rather than relying on a fixed factory trim. The status flag output asserts low when the switch is in current-limit or thermal-shutdown — useful for a microcontroller interrupt or a discrete fault latch.
Industrial temperature range, 8-SOIC package
The 8-SOIC (150-mil body) footprint is a standard, low-cost surface-mount package that reflows on a standard profile without special handling.
