Supervisor for a single voltage rail — what it does and where it fits
The MAX837EUS+T from Maxim Integrated is a single-channel simple reset/power-on reset supervisor that monitors one voltage rail and asserts a reset signal when the supply drops below a threshold. It is designed for use in microcontroller systems, industrial controllers, and other digital logic circuits where a clean, glitch-free startup and brownout reset are required.
The 80 µs typical propagation delay from the supply crossing the threshold to the reset output going active is the key timing parameter for this supervisor. In a typical MCU application, this delay must be shorter than the supply hold-up time of the downstream regulator to guarantee the reset is asserted before the logic rails collapse. The push-pull output eliminates the need for an external pull-up resistor, simplifying the BOM and saving board space in the SOT-143-4 package.
