Voltage monitoring for five rails in one ceramic package
The MAX8214BMJE: It asserts an active-low reset output (push-pull/totem-pole) when any monitored rail falls below its threshold, and holds reset for a minimum of 1 ms after all rails return to tolerance. This is a through-hole component in a 16-pin hermetic CERDIP package (16-CDIP, 0.300" body width), rated for the full military temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. The ceramic package and wide temperature grade make it suited for avionics, satellite, and other high-reliability systems where a single-event upset on a COTS supervisor could reset the payload.
Threshold configurability and the five-rail advantage
The five adjustable thresholds let a single MAX8214BMJE supervise a core logic rail, an I/O rail, a memory rail, an analog supply, and a backup battery — all from one IC. Each threshold is set by an external resistor divider, so the same order code works across different board designs with different voltage targets. The active-low, push-pull reset output drives the reset input of a microprocessor, FPGA, or ASIC directly, without requiring an external pull-up resistor. The 1 ms minimum reset timeout provides enough hold time for the slowest power-good signal from a switching regulator to settle before the processor is released from reset.
