What this supervisor does and where it fits
The Maxim Integrated MAX8211EJA is a simple reset/power-on reset supervisor that monitors a single voltage rail and asserts an active-low reset signal when the supply drops below a programmable threshold. The open-drain output lets the reset line be pulled up to a different voltage than the monitored rail, which is useful in mixed-voltage systems. The reset timeout is a minimum of 1 ms, giving the downstream logic time to stabilize after the supply returns.
Package and mounting — design-fit constraints
Housed in an 8-pin CDIP (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm pitch) with a through-hole mounting style, the MAX8211EJA is a natural fit for boards that already use DIP footprints or where a ceramic hermetic package is specified for reliability. The supplier device package is listed as 8-CERDIP, which is the same ceramic dual-in-line format. This is not a surface-mount part; plan for a through-hole soldering step or a socket.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, the MAX8211EJA covers the industrial temperature range. That makes it suitable for outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor controllers, and other environments where the board sees seasonal temperature swings but not extended high heat. The ceramic package helps with thermal cycling endurance compared to plastic DIP.
Lifecycle and sourcing
It is RoHS non-compliant, so if your assembly line requires RoHS exemption documentation or you are shipping into a region that enforces RoHS, factor that in.
