What this supervisor does — and what it doesn't
The MAX803MEXR is a 3-pin microprocessor (MPU) supervisory circuit from Maxim Integrated. It monitors a single supply rail and asserts a reset output when the voltage drops below the factory-trimmed threshold, holding the reset for a timeout period after the supply recovers. This is the bare-bones reset watchdog — no manual reset input, no battery-backup switchover, no watchdog timer. It exists to keep an MCU or MPU from running on a brown-out supply.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
It is marked RoHS non-compliant, which limits its use in designs requiring lead-free soldering and EU RoHS exemption documentation. For new designs targeting a lead-free assembly line, a RoHS-compliant variant should be evaluated.
What the package means for the assembly line
For pick-and-place assembly, either hand-place the part or transfer to a feeder-compatible carrier. Bulk is common for engineering samples and low-volume builds; for high-volume production, confirm the tape-and-reel order code (typically a +T suffix) with your distributor.
