What the -5V PWM regulator does
The MAX755CSA is a linear regulator that outputs a regulated -5 V rail using a PWM control scheme — it takes a positive input voltage and inverts it to a clean negative supply, useful for powering op-amp rails or biasing analog front-ends that need a symmetrical voltage pair. Because it's a PWM-based linear regulator, the output ripple and noise profile differ from a pure linear LDO; the switching action means the downstream analog circuitry should have adequate decoupling at the PWM carrier frequency to keep the -5 V rail clean for sensitive loads.
The part is RoHS non-compliant — if your BOM requires RoHS-10 exemption or you're building for a market that enforces the directive, factor in the non-compliant status and verify acceptance with your quality team.
Package and board-fit note
Supplied in Bulk — not tape-and-reel, so if your pick-and-place line expects reeled parts, plan for manual loading or request a different packaging option from the distributor at RFQ.
