The MAX6788TA+: It monitors two series cells and accepts multiple chemistries (Li-ion, Li-Poly, NiMH, NiCd, lead-acid) without a chemistry-select pin — the detection threshold adapts to the cell voltage profile.
Protection and temperature range
Reverse battery protection is built in — if the pack is connected backwards, the monitor does not latch up or draw fault current, which saves an external series diode and its forward drop.
Supplied in an 8-WDFN with exposed pad (3x3 mm, 8-TDFN-EP), the package requires a thermal land on the PCB to pull heat from the die — the exposed paddle is the primary thermal path, not the leads. Surface-mount assembly with a bulk shipping option — no tape-and-reel minimums to negotiate for prototype or low-volume builds.
