Active production, wide-range thermal monitoring
The MAX6659MEE+: Output is digital via I²C/SMBus with 10-bit resolution, so the temperature reading is available directly to a microcontroller without an external ADC. The ±2°C accuracy (highest) and ±5°C (lowest) define the measurement uncertainty — the tighter spec applies over the calibrated range of 60°C to 100°C, which covers the typical operating zone for most equipment.
Supply, features, and board-fit note
The 16-SSOP package (0.154" width, 3.90mm) with a 16-QSOP footprint is a compact surface-mount option — the 0.025" lead pitch demands careful solder-paste stencil design, but the package is widely supported in standard assembly lines. Built-in features include an output switch, programmable temperature limit, shutdown mode, and standby mode. The programmable limit lets the sensor assert an alert when the temperature crosses a threshold, offloading the host from continuous polling. Shutdown and standby modes reduce supply current when monitoring is not needed — useful in battery-powered or duty-cycled systems.
Compliance and sourcing posture
The MAX6659MEE+ is ROHS3 compliant and carries an active lifecycle status from Analog Devices.
