What this temperature switch does
The Maxim Integrated MAX6501UKP045-T is a micropower temperature switch that asserts a logic output when the die temperature crosses a factory-programmed threshold of +45°C. It draws very low quiescent current, making it suitable for battery-powered thermal monitoring in portable equipment, industrial controllers, and HVAC systems where a simple over-temperature flag is needed without the overhead of a digital temperature sensor.
Note that it is RoHS non-compliant, so it contains lead and is not suitable for lead-free soldering processes. Plan for a separate reflow profile or hand-soldering if your assembly line is RoHS-only.
which typically means loose units in a bag or tube rather than tape-and-reel. This is fine for prototyping, bench evaluation, or low-volume production, but for automated pick-and-place you will need to transfer parts to a feeder-compatible carrier. The small SOT-23-like package is straightforward to hand-solder or rework with hot air.
