The Maxim Integrated MAX5427EGA is a one-time programmable (OTP) digital potentiometer — the wiper position is set once, permanently, during board-level programming. There is no software re-trim after assembly; the resistance value is locked at the factory or during the first power-up sequence. That makes it a fit for calibration-once applications like power-supply voltage margining, sensor offset nulling, or LCD bias adjustment where the setting should never drift or be accidentally overwritten.
