Dual current-sense amp for rail monitoring
The Maxim Integrated MAX4377FEUA is a dual-channel current-sense amplifier in an 8-µMAX package (8-TSSOP/MSOP footprint). The two channels let you monitor independent rails — say a 5 V logic rail and a 12 V motor supply — with a single IC, saving board space over two single-channel parts.
Rated for a supply span of 3 V to 28 V, the MAX4377FEUA runs directly off a 5 V or 12 V rail without an extra LDO. If your design sees sustained ambient above 85 °C, this part keeps working where a commercial-grade amp would drift or fail.
Bandwidth and slew rate — fast enough for switching-load transients
A 2 MHz -3 dB bandwidth and 10 V/µs slew rate let the amplifier track fast current changes from switching converters and motor drives. For a typical 500 kHz buck converter, the loop can resolve the inductor current ripple without significant phase lag. The 1 mA per-channel supply current keeps the quiescent draw low enough for always-on monitoring in battery-backed systems.
