RS-232 link for mixed-voltage boards
The MAX3245EETX+ is a full-duplex RS-232 transceiver from Analog Devices, packing three drivers and five receivers into a single 36-TQFN package. It handles serial communication up to 1 Mbps, which is fast enough for most industrial UART links — think PLC programming ports, barcode scanners, or CNC controller debug terminals.
Driver/receiver count and signal integrity
With three drivers and five receivers, this transceiver can handle a mix of TX/RX pairs plus extra handshake lines (RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR) typical in a full RS-232 port. The 500 mV receiver hysteresis cleans up noisy signals on long cable runs — a common pain point in electrically noisy factory environments. Full-duplex operation means simultaneous transmit and receive on the same port, which is standard for RS-232 but worth confirming if your application expects half-duplex only.
Package and board integration
It ships in a tube, not tape-and-reel, so if your pick-and-place line expects reel packaging, factor in a tube-to-reel transfer or order a different packing option.
