IrDA link transceiver for short-range optical serial data
It supports data rates up to 235Kbps over the IrDA protocol, which is the typical ceiling for consumer and light-industrial infrared links — think handheld terminals, medical monitors, or POS peripherals that beam data across a desk rather than through a wall.
Data rate is 235Kbps.
Full-duplex operation
Full duplex means the driver and receiver can run simultaneously, which is the normal IrDA mode for bidirectional packet exchange. No half-duplex turnaround delay to account for in the firmware timing.
