Quad receiver — listens only, no bus drive
The MAX3093EEUE+ is a quad RS-422/RS-485 receiver with 0 drivers and 4 receivers — it receives differential bus signals but never drives the bus itself. This matters when you already have a transceiver on the master node and just need to add more listening nodes on the same twisted pair without duplicating the drive capability or address arbitration logic.
10 Mbps data rate with 45 mV hysteresis
Rated for 10 Mbps data rate with 45 mV of receiver hysteresis — the hysteresis filters out noise on the differential bus lines, preventing the output from chattering when the differential signal sits near the threshold. For a 10 Mbps link on a factory floor with motor drives nearby, that 45 mV of dead band keeps the logic output clean without needing external filtering.
5V-only supply, industrial temperature range
If the design lives inside a conditioned control cabinet or on a lab bench, the temp grade is fine; if it rides on an engine block, look for an automotive-grade sibling.
16-TSSOP — fine-pitch surface-mount footprint
Supplied in a 16-TSSOP package with a 0.173-inch (4.40 mm) body width and 0.65 mm pin pitch. The fine pitch demands careful placement of the supply bypass capacitor — one 0.1 µF ceramic within 2 mm of the VCC pin keeps the high-frequency return path short. The 4.75 V–5.25 V supply rail is narrow enough that a standard 5 V ±5% regulator feeds it directly.
