36V H-bridge with integrated protection
The MAX22258AUD+ is a 36V H-bridge transformer driver from Maxim Integrated, configured as a half-bridge output stage rated for 1A peak output current per channel. It operates from a 5V to 36V supply and load voltage range, making it suitable for driving inductive loads like transformers and small motors in general-purpose applications.
On-resistance and thermal design
Typical on-resistance is 260mOhm for the low-side and 520mOhm for the high-side FETs — the LS path carries the bulk of the conduction loss in a half-bridge topology, so the lower Rds(on) there keeps the die temperature in check during continuous 1A operation.
Fault protection and interface
Built-in over-current, over-temperature, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) protection means the driver shuts down before the FETs or the load see a sustained fault — no external comparator or watchdog needed for basic safeguarding. The logic-level interface accepts standard 3.3V or 5V control signals from a microcontroller or FPGA without external level translation, simplifying the BOM.
Supplied in tube packaging, the 14-TSSOP-EP parts are moisture-sensitive; store the reels dry per the label MSL level, and bake before reflow if the floor life is exceeded.
