Product details

8A automotive step-down in a 3.5x3.75 mm QFN

The MAX20008EAFOC/VY+ is a fixed 3.3V output, 8A continuous-rated synchronous buck converter from Analog Devices, part of the Automotive AEC-Q100 series. Its 3.5V to 36V input range covers cold-crank and load-dump transients on a 12V automotive bus without an external clamp — the internal FET's abs-max rating handles the surge. Switching at a fixed 400 kHz, the converter's EMI spectrum is predictable and repeatable — the filter design stays the same across production units, which simplifies CISPR 25 compliance testing in an ECU.

Housed in a 17-lead PowerWFQFN (FC2QFN) package measuring 3.5x3.75 mm, the part features wettable flanks on the side terminations. The datasheet layout recommendation calls for a 4-layer board with thermal vias under the pad.
