Product details

12-bit DAS with 8-channel multiplexer in a 20-pin DIP

The MAX188DCPP+ from Analog Devices is a complete 12-bit Data Acquisition System (DAS) integrating an 8-channel multiplexer, a successive-approximation ADC, and a serial interface in a single 20-pin DIP package. It samples at 133 ksps, which sets the throughput ceiling for multiplexed acquisition across all eight channels — at full speed each channel is sampled roughly every 60 µs, so the aggregate data rate is 133k words per second. The dual ±5 V supply rails give the internal ADC a bipolar input range without external level shifting — the analog front-end accepts signals that swing below ground, which is a common requirement for industrial sensor bridges and current-shunt monitors.

Through-hole PDIP — board-fit and integration

The serial interface supports MICROWIRE, QSPI, and SPI — any of these three protocols can drive the conversion start and read the result, so the part ties directly to most microcontroller SPI peripherals without glue logic.
