3 A step-down with programmable output
The MAX1830EEE+: The single output is programmable via external resistors across a 1.1 V to 5.5 V range, with fixed-voltage presets at 1.5 V, 1.8 V, and 2.5 V selectable through the pin-strapping logic. Switching at a fixed 1 MHz, the part uses an internal synchronous rectifier, which eliminates the external Schottky diode and keeps the efficiency curve high across the load range.
Input and output voltage boundaries
The output can be adjusted up to the same 5.5 V ceiling, meaning it cannot boost above the input — this is a pure buck topology. For fixed-output builds, the pin-strapped presets at 1.5 V, 1.8 V, and 2.5 V save two feedback resistors. The adjustable range starts at 1.1 V, which covers the core voltage of most low-power logic families.
The surface-mount QSOP uses a standard 0.635 mm pitch, which routes cleanly on a two-layer board with proper thermal vias under the die paddle.
Listed as Active on the manufacturer's lifecycle record, with RoHS3 compliance (lead-free per EU 2015/863).
