What this boost converter does for your rail
The MAX1795EUA+T is a step-up (boost) DC-DC converter from Analog Devices, built for generating a regulated positive rail from a lower input voltage. It starts up from as low as 1 V on the input, which means it can draw from a single alkaline cell or a Li-ion battery that's nearly flat, and deliver a programmable output from 2 V up to 5.5 V. Switching at 500 kHz keeps the inductor small, which helps when board space is tight.
Output voltage options and setting
Not a full automotive-grade part (no AEC-Q100 listed), but fine for most commercial and industrial applications where the board isn't under the hood.
If you're stocking spares for a long-life product, this one isn't going away soon.
