Product details

Wide-input protection for 12V/24V/48V rails

The MAX17612BATB+ is an overvoltage and undervoltage protection IC from Analog Devices that monitors the input rail from 4.5V to 60V and shuts off the pass FET when the supply strays outside the programmed window. That 60V absolute maximum means it survives load-dump transients on a 24V truck or 48V telecom bus without an external clamp — the internal FET's breakdown handles the surge. Drawing only 890µA from the supply, the protection circuit itself adds negligible load to an always-on battery line — a telematics unit parked for weeks still has the protection active without draining the starter battery.

Industrial temperature and package fit

The 10-TDFN (3x3 mm) package with exposed pad requires a thermal via array under the paddle to pull heat into the board plane; without it the junction temperature rises above the 125°C limit at high input voltage and load current. The 10-WFDFN exposed pad package (3x3 mm body) is a standard footprint for this class of protection IC. Without those vias the RθJA roughly doubles.
