Forward controller for isolated supplies
The MAX17598ATE+T is a current-mode PWM controller from Analog Devices designed for forward-converter topologies. It operates from an 8V to 29V supply rail and drives an external MOSFET pair — no internal switches, so the power stage is your own design. Switching frequency is programmable from 100kHz to 1MHz, letting you balance transformer size against switching losses.
The 8V to 29V Vcc/Vdd range sets the bias rail for the controller itself — not the output voltage. Your design still needs a separate bias winding or auxiliary supply that stays within that window. The 72.5% maximum duty cycle is typical for forward converters; it leaves the reset interval for the transformer core. Fault protection includes current limiting and over-voltage on the output side, which saves adding a separate supervisor IC. Control features — frequency control, soft start, and sync — let you align switching with other converters in a multi-rail system or ramp the output cleanly at power-up.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
