Topology flexibility in a six-pin SOT-23
The MAX1523EUT is a simple boost controller from Maxim Integrated that handles step-up and step-up/step-down regulation across boost, flyback, and SEPIC topologies. It drives an external transistor from a single output, with a 90% maximum duty cycle that suits moderate step-up ratios in portable or distributed-power rails.
Control features and thermal range
Enable and soft-start are integrated on-chip, so the designer gets sequenced turn-on without external RC networks. No synchronous rectifier means the external diode selection stays simple — a Schottky with appropriate voltage rating handles the catch function.
Package and mounting
Housed in a SOT-23-6 package (supplier device package same), surface-mount only. The six-pin footprint keeps the board area small — useful when the controller shares a tight layout with the power stage.
