Isolation for noisy fieldbuses and mixed-voltage domains
The MAX14932EASE+ is a 4-channel general-purpose digital isolator using capacitive coupling technology, rated for 2750 Vrms isolation. With a 25 Mbps data rate and 2 ns typical rise/fall times, it handles Profibus, CAN, and RS-485 signaling without pulse-width distortion issues. The 2.6 ns max pulse-width distortion and 27.5 ns propagation delay keep the digital eye open across the isolation barrier, so you don't lose bit timing margin on a long backplane. This one shrugs off the noise.
Channel count and direction for your signal set
Four unidirectional channels, configured as two inputs on side 1 and two on side 2. That means you get two forward data paths and two reverse paths — enough to isolate a SPI bus (SCLK, MOSI, MISO, CS) or a pair of control signals plus a fault feedback line. The unidirectional channel type is standard for digital isolators; each channel's direction is fixed at the silicon level. No derating needed at the high end for most applications.
Package and board integration
Housed in a 16-pin narrow-body SOIC (3.90 mm width), the MAX14932EASE+ fits the standard SOIC-16 footprint used across the industry. The narrow body saves board space compared to the wide-body SOIC-16 (7.50 mm) used for higher isolation ratings — 2750 Vrms is adequate for basic isolation per IEC 60950-1, so the smaller package works here. Supplied in tube packaging, which is the common format for prototype builds and low-to-mid volume production. For reel packaging, check the MAX14932EASE+T variant.
