RS485/RS422 half-duplex transceiver, 250 kbps
The MAX1483CUA+ is a half-duplex transceiver from Analog Devices supporting RS422 and RS485 protocols, with a single driver and single receiver on-chip. Data rate is specified at 250 kbps, making it suitable for industrial fieldbus links, building automation networks, and instrumentation buses where the data rate ceiling matches the cable length budget.
Receiver hysteresis is 75 mV, which rejects differential noise on the bus — a practical margin for industrial environments where common-mode noise couples onto the twisted pair. For an outdoor or unheated cabinet application, the industrial-temperature sibling (MAX1483E) covers -40°C to +85°C. Packaged in 8-uMAX/uSOP (3.00 mm width, 0.118" pitch), the same footprint as the standard MSOP-8 — the board layout is shared with the wider temperature variants if a BOM upgrade is later needed.
