It handles data rates up to 3 Mbps, making it suitable for high-speed serial links in industrial control, point-of-sale terminals, and telecom equipment where legacy RS232 ports need to keep up with modern throughput. The wide supply range from 3V to 5.5V lets it run off a 3.3V rail or a traditional 5V bus without a separate regulator.
At 3 Mbps this transceiver supports the full RS232 data rate for most applications, including high-speed barcode scanners, industrial PLC links, and debug consoles that push data faster than the classic 115.2 kbps. The 500 mV of receiver hysteresis cleans up noisy lines common in factory-floor cable runs.
Supply voltage and system compatibility
Rated for 3V to 5.5V, the MAX13235EEUP+T works directly on 3.3V logic systems without level shifters, and also drops into legacy 5V RS232 ports.
Housed in a 20-TSSOP (4.40 mm width) with surface-mount termination. The supplier device package is 20-TSSOP, same as the case code.
