12-DFN package and board integration
The LTC4315IDE#PBF comes in a 12-lead WFDFN with an exposed pad (4x3 mm footprint per the supplier device package). The 0.5 mm pitch demands careful solder-paste stencil aperture design to avoid bridging between adjacent pins.
Supply rail and current budget
The supply current is 8.1 mA typical — this is the total current drawn by the accelerator circuitry, not the bus pull-up current.
Hot-swap capability and bus capacitance
Rated for I²C hot-swap applications, meaning it allows a card or module to be inserted into or removed from a live backplane without corrupting the bus. The 10 pF input capacitance is the load the accelerator presents to the upstream bus — this is low enough that it does not significantly degrade the rise time at 400 kHz. The accelerator itself can drive higher capacitive loads on the downstream side, which is the point of the part.
Temperature grade and operating envelope
This covers most factory-floor, outdoor telecom cabinet, and automotive cabin applications. The part is not qualified for extended temperature ranges like -55°C to 125°C — if the design sees engine-bay or downhole temperatures, a different buffer is needed.
