The LT8636EV#PBF: It is also RoHS3 compliant, so it passes the EU material-restriction gate without an exemption letter.
5 A, 42 V input — the power-train fit
Rated 5 A continuous output from a 3.4 V to 42 V input rail, with synchronous rectification integrated — the internal low-side FET handles the recirculating current, so no external Schottky is needed. The 42 V max input covers 24 V industrial rails with 50 % margin and survives 48 V telecom transients that stay under the abs-max ceiling. The 200 kHz to 3 MHz switching range lets the designer tune for efficiency (lower frequency) or small inductor footprint (higher frequency).
20-LQFN with wettable flank — board-fit detail
The 20-TFQFN exposed-pad package (4 mm x 3 mm body, supplier device package 20-LQFN) uses a wettable-flank finish — the side pads accept solder fillet inspection per IPC-A-610 Class 3, which matters for high-reliability or automotive builds where a hidden solder joint under the package is not acceptable. The exposed paddle must be soldered to the PCB ground plane for thermal dissipation; the datasheet layout recommendation shows the via pattern under the paddle. The 125°C ceiling is the junction limit; board temperature at the thermal pad should stay below 115°C to keep the internal thermal-shutdown margin intact.
