The IH5141MTW is a dual SPST normally-closed analog switch from the IH5141 family, built for low-power, fast-switching applications that demand a hermetic package. Each of its two independent switches routes a single analog or digital signal with a 1:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer topology, meaning the channel is either open (off) or closed (on) with no internal mux routing. The normally-closed configuration means the switch conducts when the control input is at a logic low — a useful fail-safe for signals that must remain connected through a power-loss or reset event.
The 75 ohm maximum on-resistance sets the insertion loss for the signal path — for a 10 kΩ load the attenuation is negligible, but driving a 600 Ω audio line the voltage drop becomes measurable. The 3 ohm channel-to-channel matching means the two switches track within 4% of each other, which matters for differential signals or gain-matched paths where a resistance mismatch would unbalance the circuit. Charge injection of 15 pC is the amount of charge dumped onto the signal node when the switch turns off. In a sample-and-hold front end this translates to a voltage error of 15 pC / hold capacitance — a 100 pF hold cap sees a 150 mV glitch, so the designer must either increase the hold cap or post-filter the output. The 150 ns turn-on and 125 ns turn-off times are fast enough for audio-frequency multiplexing and moderate-speed data acquisition, but not for video-rate switching. Off-leakage of 100 nA maximum is the current that bleeds through the open switch. At 25°C the typical leakage is lower, but at 125°C it can approach the maximum. For a 10 MΩ input impedance the 100 nA leakage produces a 1 V offset error — something to budget for in high-impedance sensor interfaces.
Supply voltage and temperature range
The dual-supply capability lets the switch handle bipolar signals up to the rail limits, which is typical for op-amp-based analog front ends.
Package and mounting reality
The IH5141MTW comes in a TO-100-10 metal can package, a through-hole circular header with 10 leads arranged in a 9.4 mm diameter circle. Through-hole mounting means hand-assembly or wave-solder only — no reflow profile. The metal can provides a hermetic seal and good thermal conductivity to the board, but the package height (about 5.8 mm) limits use in low-profile enclosures.
Lifecycle and compliance
However, it is RoHS non-compliant — the leads and internal construction contain lead and possibly other restricted substances. For designs that must meet RoHS 2 or 3 directives, this part cannot be used unless an exemption applies (e.g., military or aerospace equipment).
Sourcing this part
Because the IH5141MTW is an active, RoHS-non-compliant part in a through-hole hermetic package, its primary channel is through authorized semiconductor distributors and specialty high-reliability suppliers. The military temperature grade and metal can package mean the part is also stocked by surplus and obsolescence-management houses serving the defence and aerospace aftermarket.
