1-Wire bus — one data line, one ground, one part
The 1-Wire interface uses a single data line plus ground for both power and communication. The host microcontroller drives the bus timing; the DS2431P+ responds within 2 µs per time slot. This keeps the wiring harness simple — two conductors instead of the four or five an I²C or SPI EEPROM would need. The trade-off is bus speed: 1-Wire is slower than SPI, but for a 1Kbit block of calibration constants or serial numbers read once at power-up, the throughput is adequate. The 256 x 4 organization means the part is addressed in 4-bit nibbles, which the 1-Wire ROM command layer handles transparently.
Industrial temperature range — field reliability without a heater
The EEPROM cells hold data across the full range without battery backup.
Package and footprint — TSOC J-lead for existing DS2431 layouts
The DS2431P+ comes in a 6-pin TSOC (thin small-outline package) with J-bend leads, surface-mount. The part ships in Tube.
The ROHS3 compliance is current, so it passes European and California regulatory requirements without an exemption.
