1Mbps isolated data — the 6-channel iCoupler for industrial interfaces
The ADUM7642ARQZ is a 6-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built around magnetic coupling technology. It moves data at 1Mbps per channel with a rated isolation of 1000Vrms and a common-mode transient immunity of 15kV/µs minimum. The channel assignment is 4 on side 1, 2 on side 2 — a split that suits SPI-style interfaces (SCLK, MOSI, MISO, CS on one side with two interrupt or status lines returning). Propagation delay is a symmetrical 75ns max for both low-to-high and high-to-low transitions, with pulse-width distortion held to 25ns max, meaning the pulse shape stays clean enough for moderate-speed serial links.
The 1000Vrms isolation rating is the working voltage the part is guaranteed to withstand during production testing. For a design that only needs basic galvanic isolation — separating a microcontroller from an isolated RS-485 bus or a 24V digital input bank — this is sufficient. The 15kV/µs common-mode transient immunity is the real differentiator: it tells you the isolator stays latched through fast voltage transients on the bus side, a common failure mode in motor-drive and inverter environments where switching edges couple through parasitic capacitance. If your system sees fast dV/dt events from a half-bridge or a switched-mode supply, that 15kV/µs floor gives confidence the data won't glitch. Package is a 20-lead SSOP with 0.154-inch body width (3.90mm), also designated as the supplier device package 20-QSOP. It is surface-mount and ships in Tube form — the reeled variant (ADUM7642ARQZ-RL7) is a separate order code if pick-and-place volume justifies it.
