The ADUM7442ARQZ is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler family, built around magnetic coupling rather than optocoupler LEDs. Its 1000Vrms isolation rating suits basic galvanic isolation for control interfaces in industrial sensors, PLC I/O modules, and isolated SPI/UART links where reinforced safety isolation is not required. The 1Mbps data rate with 75ns propagation delay (max) handles most low-to-mid-speed communication without timing closure headaches — but it will not keep up with high-speed SPI above 10 MHz or full-speed USB. Four channels in a 2/2 input-side/side-2 split give you two isolated transmit and two receive paths in one package, saving board space versus two dual-channel isolators. The unidirectional channel type means each channel's direction is fixed — plan your signal flow accordingly; this is not a direction-configurable part like the ADUM1440 series.
3V to 5.5V supply — single-rail or mixed-voltage domains
The wide supply range from 3V to 5.5V on both sides lets the ADUM7442ARQZ bridge a 3.3V MCU domain to a 5V peripheral without external level shifters, as long as each side's VDD stays within that window. If your design runs one side at 2.5V or 1.8V, this part will not work — look at the ADuM7440 family with lower minimum supply. The 3V floor also means a 3.3V rail with 5% tolerance (3.135V min) still holds margin; a 3.0V rail at end-of-life may drop below the spec.
15kV/µs CMTI — noise rejection in motor drives and inverters
Common-mode transient immunity of 15kV/µs (minimum) is the figure that matters when the isolator sits across a noisy power stage — motor-drive phase legs, SMPS primary-to-secondary, or relay-coil switching. If your system sees dV/dt edges faster than that, data corruption or latch-up can occur. For most industrial 24V PLC environments and 400V motor drives with proper snubbing, 15kV/µs is adequate; for SiC/GaN fast-switching stages above 50kV/µs, step up to the ADuM3400 series with 25kV/µs or higher.
Housed in a 16-SSOP (3.90mm width) with an equivalent 16-QSOP supplier package, the footprint is compact enough for dense multichannel isolation banks.
