The ADUM7240CRZ is a 2-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler family, built on magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 25 Mbps data rate with 1000 Vrms isolation, making it a straightforward choice for breaking ground loops or providing galvanic separation in industrial sensor interfaces, PLC digital inputs, isolated SPI/UART links, and medical equipment where patient isolation is required. The 8-SOIC package keeps board area small — useful when you need to add isolation to an existing design without a layout overhaul.
The 50 ns max propagation delay (tpLH/tpHL) and 5 ns max pulse-width distortion keep signal integrity tight. The 2 ns typical rise/fall time keeps edges clean.
15 kV/µs CMTI — why it matters in noisy environments
Common-mode transient immunity of 15 kV/µs (minimum) means this isolator won't glitch when a motor drive or inverter switches a high-voltage rail nearby. If your design lives near SiC or GaN switching stages, this CMTI rating gives you margin against false triggers on the output side.
Supply flexibility and temperature grade
The 1000 Vrms isolation is a basic safety isolation level; for reinforced or medical-grade isolation, you'd step up to a higher-voltage-rated part in the same family.
