Two-channel isolation for control-signal paths
The ADUM7240ARZ-RL7 is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler series, built around ADI's magnetic coupling technology. It isolates two digital signals from a controller side to a peripheral side, with both inputs on side 1 and no outputs on side 2 — a 2/0 input configuration that suits downstream signal paths like SPI chip-select and data lines, UART TX, or PWM gate drives.
The 1 Mbps data rate covers the majority of industrial serial interfaces — SPI at moderate clock rates, UART, and general-purpose GPIO isolation. The 15 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity is the more telling spec: it means the isolator can reject fast voltage transients — the kind generated by IGBT switching edges in a variable-frequency drive — without corrupting the output. Propagation delay is 75 ns max in both directions, with pulse-width distortion held to 25 ns max.
