2500Vrms isolation in a 16-SOIC wide body
The ADUM3400CRWZ-RL is a four-channel digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built around magnetic coupling technology. The part supports a supply range of 3V to 5.5V on each side, making it straightforward to interface 3.3V logic with a 5V domain or vice versa.
90Mbps data rate — timing budget for high-speed interfaces
Rated at 90Mbps, this isolator can clock SPI at up to 45 MHz (half-duplex) or carry a full-speed USB differential pair with margin. The 32ns max propagation delay (tpLH/tpHL) and 2ns pulse-width distortion mean the timing skew across channels stays tight enough for parallel bus isolation where setup-and-hold windows are narrow. Rise and fall times are 2.5ns typical, so signal integrity on the secondary side is clean without external schmitt triggers at moderate trace lengths.
25kV/µs CMTI — staying clean in noisy environments
Common-mode transient immunity is specified at a minimum of 25kV/µs. In a motor-drive or inverter application where the ground plane can jump several hundred volts in a microsecond, that rating keeps the output from glitching. The magnetic-coupling architecture inherently handles faster edges than optocoupler-based isolators, which is why this part is a common choice for IGBT gate-drive feedback and isolated ADC data lines.
Channel direction: 4/0 — all inputs on one side
The 4/0 input count means all four channels are unidirectional from side 1 to side 2. There is no reverse-direction channel, so if the design needs a return path (e.g., a fault flag from the secondary back to the primary), a separate part with a 3/1 or 2/2 split is needed. The ADUM1401CRWZ-RL, for example, offers a 3/1 configuration in the same package and data rate.
