2500Vrms isolation in a 4-channel unidirectional iCoupler
The Analog Devices ADUM3400ARWZ-RL is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler series, using magnetic coupling to provide 2500Vrms isolation between input and output sides. The part operates over -40°C to 105°C, covering most industrial and some automotive under-hood environments.
With a maximum data rate of 1Mbps, this isolator is suited for slower serial interfaces like UART, SPI at moderate clock speeds, or general-purpose GPIO isolation. The 100ns max propagation delay (tpLH/tpHL) and 40ns pulse-width distortion set a timing budget that works for most control signals but will limit high-speed bus isolation. The 25kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity is the standout spec: it keeps the output from glitching when large dV/dt events occur on the isolated side, which is critical in motor-drive inverter stages, solar inverters, or any environment with fast-switching power semiconductors.
Active lifecycle and ROHS3 compliance
For smaller quantities or prototyping, the part is also available in Cut Tape.
The 16-SOIC wide-body footprint (0.295" body width, 7.50mm) is a common isolation package. The 4/0 channel configuration — all four inputs on side 1, all outputs on side 2 — is a straightforward unidirectional data path. No isolated power is provided on-chip, so each side needs its own local supply rail (3V to 5.5V). The 2.5ns typical rise/fall time means signal integrity on the output side is clean, but keep the trace short if driving a long cable.
