What the 2500Vrms isolation and 1Mbps data rate mean for your design
The ADUM3210WARZ-RL7 is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices using magnetic coupling technology. It provides 2500Vrms galvanic isolation between the input and output sides, rated for a continuous working voltage that suits industrial and automotive signal isolation. The 1Mbps data rate is sufficient for isolating SPI buses up to 1 MHz, UART at standard baud rates, or slow CAN interfaces — but it will not support full-speed USB or gigabit Ethernet. The 25kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity means it can sit on a motor-drive phase leg or inverter bus without false toggling from fast-switching IGBTs or SiC MOSFETs.
Automotive temperature range and grade — where this part belongs
The Automotive grade (implied AEC-Q100 qualification) means the part has passed extended reliability testing for high-temperature operating life, moisture sensitivity, and temperature cycling — a requirement for any BOM targeting automotive or long-life industrial applications.
Channel configuration and supply flexibility
Two unidirectional channels, both oriented from Side 1 to Side 2 (2/0 input/output count). This arrangement is typical for isolating a single data line plus a control or enable signal. The supply range spans 3V to 5.5V on each side, allowing direct interface with 3.3V or 5V logic without external level shifters. Propagation delay is 50ns max each direction, with pulse-width distortion held to 5ns max — tight enough for most control loops and serial protocols at 1Mbps.
