Two-channel isolation without the power supply penalty
The ADUM3210BRZ is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler family, built around magnetic coupling rather than the older optocoupler approach. It delivers 2500Vrms isolation in a compact 8-SOIC package, with a 10Mbps data rate and 25kV/µs common-mode transient immunity that handles the noise of motor drives and industrial inverters without false edges.
25kV/µs CMTI — the spec that keeps data clean in noisy environments
Common-mode transient immunity of 25kV/µs (minimum) means this isolator rejects fast voltage spikes between the input and output grounds — the kind of dV/dt you get from an IGBT switching 600V in tens of nanoseconds. If your application involves motor drives, switched-mode power supplies, or any circuit where ground bounce is a reality, that CMTI rating is what prevents bit errors and false triggering. The 3ns max pulse-width distortion keeps the duty cycle intact across the isolation barrier, and the 50ns max propagation delay is tight enough for most control-loop and SPI isolation needs.
Package and mounting
Housed in an 8-SOIC (3.90mm width) with a 1.27mm pitch, this is a hand-rework-friendly package. No exposed pad, no thermal vias to plan for. Standard MSL 3 handling applies: bake before reflow if the moisture-barrier bag has been open past the floor-life window.
Active lifecycle and compliance
No isolated power on-chip — this is a signal isolator only; the output side needs its own supply rail.
