Two-channel galvanic isolator for industrial signal paths
It is a general-purpose device rated for 10Mbps data rate with unidirectional channel configuration (one input on side 1, one on side 2).
2500Vrms isolation and 25kV/µs transient immunity
The 2500Vrms isolation rating provides basic insulation for equipment operating up to 300V working voltage per IEC 60950-1, covering many industrial and medical applications. The common-mode transient immunity of 25kV/µs minimum means this isolator will not glitch when fast voltage spikes appear between grounds — a critical spec in motor-drive inverters and switched-mode power supplies where common-mode dv/dt can exceed 10kV/µs. Propagation delay is 50ns max in both directions, with pulse-width distortion held to 3ns max, so the part preserves timing margins for synchronous interfaces like SPI at clock rates up to 10MHz.
Supply range and power considerations
The ADUM3201BRZ accepts a supply voltage from 3V to 5.5V on each side independently, allowing direct interface with 3.3V or 5V logic without level translation. No external isolated DC-DC converter is needed — the part does not include an integrated isolated power supply, so the isolated side must be powered from a separate rail or an isolated module. Rise and fall times are 2.5ns typical, which keeps edge rates clean for 10Mbps signaling but also means the output edges are fast enough to cause ringing if the PCB trace is not terminated near the characteristic impedance.
Package and footprint
Housed in an 8-pin SOIC package with 3.90mm body width, the ADUM3201BRZ uses a standard surface-mount footprint shared by many digital isolators and op-amps. The supplier device package is 8-SOIC. It ships in tube form; tape-and-reel variants are available in the family for automated assembly.
Lifecycle and sourcing
It is ROHS3 compliant.
