Two-channel 100Mbps digital isolator with reinforced isolation
The ADUM2285CRIZ is a 2-channel unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, using magnetic coupling to transfer digital signals across a 5000Vrms isolation barrier. It supports data rates up to 100Mbps with a maximum propagation delay of 24ns and typical rise/fall times of 2.5ns, making it suitable for isolating high-speed digital interfaces like SPI, UART, or general-purpose GPIO lines where galvanic isolation is required for safety or noise immunity.
The 5000Vrms isolation rating is the key spec for designs requiring reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-5 or VDE 0884-10. This part provides a single-channel isolation barrier for two unidirectional signals (both inputs on Side 1, no outputs on Side 2), which means it handles two downstream signals from one isolated domain. The 16-SOIC wide-body package provides the physical creepage (≥8mm typical for this footprint) to support the voltage rating in PCB layouts where clearance is tight. Common-mode transient immunity of 25kV/µs minimum ensures the output doesn't glitch when fast high-voltage transients couple across the barrier — critical in motor-drive inverters, industrial power supplies, or any environment with SiC/GaN switching edges. If your system sees faster transients, you'll need a part with higher CMTI, but 25kV/µs covers most IGBT-based drives and 400V AC line applications.
Speed and timing budget for the bus
At 100Mbps, the ADUM2285CRIZ handles SPI clock rates up to 50MHz (NRZ) with margin. The 24ns max propagation delay (tpLH/tpHL) and 2ns max pulse-width distortion mean the isolated data stream preserves pulse symmetry well enough for most synchronous interfaces. The 2.5ns typical rise/fall times keep signal edges clean without excessive EMI, but you'll still want a series termination resistor close to the output pin if driving a long trace.
