5000 Vrms isolation — the reason you spec this part
The ADUM2281ARIZ-RL is an Analog Devices iCoupler 2-channel unidirectional digital isolator built around magnetic coupling technology. Its headline rating is 5000 Vrms isolation — the figure that determines whether your design passes safety certification in medical, industrial, or grid-tied equipment.
25 kV/µs CMTI — the spec that keeps the bus alive
Common-mode transient immunity of 25 kV/µs minimum means this isolator can reject fast voltage spikes across the isolation barrier — exactly what you get from IGBT switching edges in a motor drive or the primary-side FET transitions in a flyback supply. If the CMTI is too low, the output glitches and the downstream controller sees a false edge. At 25 kV/µs this part handles the noise environment of a 600 V inverter bus without extra filtering. Propagation delay is 50 ns max in both directions, with pulse-width distortion held to 10 ns max. Rise and fall times are a tight 2.5 ns typical, so the waveform integrity stays clean across the barrier at 1 Mbps. For a 1 Mbps signal that means the output tracks the input within a few percent of the bit period — no timing budget surprises.
Surface-mount only, in the 16-SOIC-IC supplier package variant.
