5000 Vrms reinforced isolation in an 8-pin SOIC
The ADUM210N0BRIZ is a single-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built on magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 5000 Vrms isolation in a compact 8-SOIC-IC package, making it suitable for applications requiring reinforced isolation without the footprint penalty of optocouplers or larger modules.
At 150 Mbps, this isolator can clock isolated SPI at full speed without inserting wait states, which matters when the sensor or ADC on the isolated side needs to stream data without bottlenecking the controller. The 75 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity ensures that fast-switching power stages — motor drives, inverters, or flyback converters — do not glitch the data stream across the barrier. Propagation delay is symmetric at 13 ns max for both rising and falling edges, with pulse-width distortion held to 3 ns max, so the duty cycle of a 50% square wave stays within 3% at 150 Mbps.
Temperature range and operating environment
The 125°C ceiling covers motor-drive cabinets, engine-bay electronics, and outdoor telecom gear without requiring a heatsink or forced air. The 5000 Vrms isolation rating supports reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-5, which is the threshold for medical (MOPP) and grid-tie applications.
